Okay so this is a doozy so here are the major points.

Location: Missouri

people doing wrong doing: girlfriend of grandfather (together 7 years)

people affected by wrong doing: daughter and grandchildren of deceased

So we all know that will and testaments can get messy and emotional. i didn’t think this would happen with this lady, she’s seen other people in my family just take without remorse, especially from my grandfather. my mother and i live a state away so we’re not super close to come at a drop of a hat but we do try. we made sure to see my grandfather twice a year (even though we lived 12+ hours away we still tried to make it for most holidays). he’s one of my favorite people and i know i’m one of his (not to sound conceded, but we’d party together any time we got to and have the best conversations) his health had declined over the years, tons of heart attacks, lung scares and blood problems. truly the medical run through. his partner had stayed with him through that, which is unbelievably difficult and admirable. they live together on a farm that his partner is notorious for talking about how much of a “money pit” it is because the cost of animal feed and vet bills. she has her own 2 kids who are also adults (one is a teacher and the other is working at a ski resort). when my grandfather passed, we let her decide his creamation, where he’d be buried (which is with her family and a location that she wouldn’t show us), and how to do the services. the whole ordeal with her was interesting, the room my grandfather about died in was a pig sty, old paper and food and trash everywhere. my mother and i spent hours cleaning it the next day after our 12 hour ride. we spend the week cleaning and cooking after her since my grandfather had passed and was obviously hard on her. she wanted to decide who was welcomed to the funeral. she wanted to tell one of his ex’s to fuck off at the funeral if they showed up (this particular ex is a personal favorite with my side of the family bc she and my grandpa did a ton of fun trips before he ended up in the hospital with a heart attack. genuinely gave my grandpa a few fond memories before officially retiring from adventuring) her and my grandfather have only been together for maybe 7 years total- my grandfather was a ladies man and a tale teller. some of the thing we would tell his partner she refused to believe. she wouldn’t let us go to his house to look for a few trinkets, she was going to make us pay for my grandfathers harvest (he was a very good farmer). just weird behavior after we’ve helped her and do help her every time we see her. she told us that HER attorney drafted his will and testament bc my grandfather “didnt have anything lined up” and made her POA. which is interesting because i know for a fact that he made me his beneficiary to his life insurance when i graduated high school (he chose me instead of my mother because she had just gotten out of prison and knew she didn’t need that much responsibility right away). after a couple of weeks from the funeral, we reach out asking for death certificates and SSN for our own records, she sent last 4 SSN numbers but were in the wrong order (weird), she also sent the last will and testament that said he didn’t have any children whatsoever. which is a blatant lie. there are people who can attest that he not only had kids, but loved his kids and grandkids. there’s photos (very recent photos) and photos from before this lady. there is more details of weirdness but that’s the general idea of what’s going on. i’m curious if there’s a way to see when the will was changed? how could i prove that she might’ve coerced my grandfather or straight up tricked him into signing it? should i just cut my losses? it doesn’t feel right and i genuinely feel like this is the exact opposite of what my grandfather would like to see happen to his girls. any advice would help!!!
