Hi All, I’m Needing Some Advise As I’m In A Hole And Don’t Know What To Do.

For context I’m 21 and for the last 12 months I’ve been renting a little apartment with my partner. Previously I used to be on the tenancy agreement with my mother, however she decided to move out because she wanted to be closer to her family on the coast. I helped her move a large portion of her items however, she let me keep a couple things such as a 10 year old fridge, washing machine and an old couch that belonged to my dad the rest was donated to charity. My mother is diagnosed with schizophrenia and Bipolar and has recently been hospitalised and spoken to by the police due to a safety incident with my sister and nephew, in which she was visiting at the time. She went through a 30 day holding period in this hospital and was then released. However she did not return to her home on the coast due to believing her family was against her and has since been homeless.

I have since been contacted by my brother asking why I have done nothing to help and he suggested she comes back to live with me, which I am against. He has then sent me threatening messages stating that “I’ve become the next problem” and “that it won’t be a good outcome for me in the long run”. My brother is 35. I transferred him $800 to assist my mother financially. However he has now said that it is not enough and that I owe them for the items that remained in my home. He has sent me an invoice for $4000 to cover the cost of these items. Including those that was donated by my mother, items that I purchased myself or that she gave to me when she moved out.

I’m so lost and I’m just asking any advice that might help me. My entire family has cut me off due to me not allowing her to return to my home and I’m struggling with this decision.
