High-schooler Has Been Intentionally Throwing Trash Into My Yard For Almost A Year

Location: Illinois.

So I live on the corner of a main thru-road and a dead end street, and school busses stop in front of my house to pick up and drop off the kids that live up the dead end street that runs along the side of my property. There are 5 or 6 kids who live on that dead end street, I think all of them teens.

Back in spring of last year I started getting trash thrown in my yard from that street pretty frequently, about 4-6 times a month. It was mostly unwanted food items (milk boxes, packs of crackers, bags of microwaveable rice), and some other random stuff like one time a ripped up dollar bill scattered through my yard. It was pissing me off, but I live in a town with a lot of piece of shit losers who throw trash out of their cars all the time, so I've become used to picking up garbage every week before I mow. I was annoyed, but once summer break started the trash coming from the dead end street side stopped, so I knew it was definitely one of the kids.

So school starts back up in the fall, and so does the littering. I was slowly getting more and more pissed until October when this kid dropped the final straw. I went to that side of my house to get my mail, where there is a medium sized evergreen tree behind my mailbox. This little fucker had HUCKED a walmart bag full of food into the tree, and there was shit all over the ground and in the tree. I cleaned all of it up, and immediately went inside and bought a camera.

I set up my camera the next day, and within a week I caught the little dumbass on camera throwing a Styrofoam clamshell full of nachos under the same tree. It was exactly who I suspected too. Some entitled little dipshit who constantly comes well into my property in the mornings to sit on my paved driveway while he waits for the bus, he looks about 16. Since then I've caught him 3 more times going out of his way to throw whatever garbage he had those days into my yard.

I have no idea what I did to this kid. We've only had one interaction and I thought it was pretty mundane. In the spring I was doing some landscaping work in front of my house, and he rode his bike by and stopped to ask me if I needed any yard work done so he could make a little money. I just said "No thanks man, I've got my yard covered," and he said okay and kept riding. That's literally it, other than maybe a wave or two. So I don't know if he's butthurt that I didn't hire him or what, but it doesn't really matter I guess.

Here's my plan: If he does this shit one more time, I'm going to confront him directly. If he continues to do it after I tell him to knock it the fuck off, I guess I'll figure out which house he lives in and talk to his parent(s). If it still doesn't stop after that, I guess I'm going to the police. This is where I'm not sure about what the police can actually do here since he is a minor.

I have timestamped videos of him doing this, so I assume they can write a littering ticket for his parents? Can they give them a ticket for each occurrence? I hate to fuck over his parents for this, cause he's clearly old enough to know better, but I guess they're the ones that raised a shitty kid. Or maybe someone knows a better way of going about this altogether? I don't know, I'm hoping I won't have to go to the police at all, but I will if all else fails.
