Housemate Added Another Person To The Address Without Asking Or Telling The Home Owner + Other Housemates Causing All Our Insurances To Rise
Location: Massachusetts.
My partner bought a house with their friend and I live there with them plus the friend’s SO and two other roommates
earlier in the year, i have no idea when, the friend’s SO added their friend who does not live in the state to our address so they can find a job in the state and get an ID - they did not ask any of the owners of the house including my partner and their partner if they could do this and they did not let anyone in the house know that they did this.
we found out when everyone in the houses car insurance more than doubled because a stranger was added to everyones policy.
the whole situation is absolutely stupid and stressful and should not have happened.
is there anything we can legally do to get this person out of the house? is it possible to take them to small claims to make them pay back the difference in the rates as i am not getting a refund for the month i had to pay? is there anyway to get this person out of the house without having to sell it?
