How Can I Get My Ex To Leave My House?
Location: Alabama. My ex (29M) refuses to leave my (28F) house. He owns his own house but has since let his house almost go into foreclosure and has turned off his own utilities and has stayed here for almost 4 months now. He does not pay bills here , does not buy groceries, and does not receive mail here. We verbally agreed 25 days ago that he had to be out within 30 days but today when I reminded him of that, he doubled down and said he wanted a written statement of him leaving. I admittedly have a tendency to just give in and let him do whatever he wants to keep the peace but I can’t take it any more. Police are not really an option where I live because they’ll either not show up or they’ll say there isn’t anything they can do. I did some research and with him staying here for free while also having his own house, I shouldn’t have to formally give him notice, but I’m also worried that even if I do give him written notice, he still won’t leave. What can I do about this?
