How Long Before These Washer/dryers Are Considered Abandoned Property?

Card image cap

Location: Los Angeles

Our apartment building has a small laundry room and was working with a contractor to provide the laundry machines. Last year, the contractor company got increasingly garbage at actually bothering to come fix the machines when they broke down, so our building’s management didn’t renew the lease with them. I believe the lease was up at the end of November (it might have been the end of October), and we’re approaching March now.

However, it’s been MONTHS now and this contractor company has not bothered to come collect their machines. We can’t use them, because the lease is up (and I don’t know if they even work at this point.) And there’s nowhere to put any new machines until these ones are taken out.

Our building manager has said he’s tried to get them to come get their machines multiple times now, but the company is dragging their feet. I’m annoyed because now instead of walking up one short flight of stairs, I have to cart my laundry all the way to the laundromat (which is way more expensive than the machines in our complex too.)

Like, these machines HAVE to be considered abandoned by the company at this point, right? Can I bother my building manager to just chuck them?
