How Long Do I Have To Sue My Sister For What She Owes Me? (tn)

Location: Tennessee

So long story short, my mom got sick about 3 years ago and died 2 years ago. My sister was the executor of the estate, but I paid absolutely everything for the estate to save the house (there was no will) and it ended up costing me about $22,000 for everything.

My lawyer back then suggested that I sue my sister for half of these costs, I'm wondering if it's even possible at this point, or when my cutoff is. We have no lease agreement, she was here when mom was alive, and she stayed until about 3 months ago.

She hardly paid any rent or helped in any way, and I made a deal with her back in October that I wouldn't pursue this if she cleaned all of her shit up and just got out of my life. Well she has failed to fulfill that deal, so I've been thinking I need to do this.

I've already tallied everything up against what she has given me, and she owes me almost $15k. She really doesn't have a way to pay it any time soon, which is the main reason I said I didn't care back then because I also wanted her to actually try to get out.
