I Have A Warrant Out For My Arrest In A County In North Carolina.

Location: North Carolina.

Hey everyone. I’m a 20 year old female. My ex is a 27 year old male. I lived in North carolina with him. I’m 19 weeks pregnant with his child. He has been laying hands on me for the last 3 months. He’s thrown me out of his truck, threw things at me, hit things around him.

The cops first got called 3 weeks ago because we were driving in the car and I told him I knew he was cheating. (Yes, I knew for sure. I even showed him the evidence and he knew he did obviously) he lost his shit and started screaming at me. Hitting the steering wheel as well. He threw a dirty diaper at me that hit me in the head. I called my step dad out of fear, he heard him screaming and called police and told my ex to go home because the cops were coming. The cops came out and told me I may be able to press charges for the diaper being thrown at me, but I did not.

They were called again on June 20th. So about a week and a half ago. I caught him cheating again, and once again he just lost his shit. He threw me onto the bed and shook me and covered my mouth, knowing I couldn’t breathe because I was sobbing and my nose was stuffy. The cops came out and saw the marks on my arm and told me I could press charges that night, I didn’t because I was scared and figured I’d go back to him. He also admitted to the cop that he laid his hands on me. The cop advised me to leave that night so my step brother came and got me.

I don’t remember threatening him. Probably out of anger after I left and sent a text to him. Maybe I said something like I was going to beat his ass?? I think maybe from a domestic violence threat that’s what it could’ve been, I have no idea. I also kept harassing him begging him to come back. Stupid, I know.

I live in Tennessee, 2 hours away from the town in North Carolina to go press the charges. The magistrate said “we got a problem. You have a warrant out for your arrest” and that’s when he told me it was a ‘domestic violence threat.’ Advised me to turn myself in Monday morning first thing. Which I am doing 100%. He said it’s a 48 hour hold.

I am scared. I know any threat that you make even if it’s a ‘joke’ they take seriously. I seriously honest to God don’t remember what I said to him but obviously he had evidence I said something. It was completely out of emotional stress. I left without a car and no way to get a job and I was angry at him. But how the hell is he going to get away with this when he’s been laying his hands on me for 3 months?!! Verbal abuse as well. I wish now I would’ve pressed the charges that night.

I have no criminal record whatsoever either. Does anyone have any idea what may happen to me? Two wrongs don’t make a right and I will admit to them that. I mean, clearly I said something if I have a warrant out for arrest in that county.

Any advice is appreciated. Guess I’m wondering how big of trouble I’ll be in and if I can even bring this up to whoever I’ll speak to after my 48 hour hold. Ugh.
