I Live In North Carolina. My Dad Bought A Truck That He Didn't Know Was Stolen, And Now He's Getting Screwed Over For It.

Location: North Carolina. So, a couple months ago, my dad bought a truck using Facebook marketplace (I know it's not the best place), we took out a loan for it (around 30k) and met the seller in Charolette, NC. The monthly payment was like 700, and all was good until some police officers came to our house saying the truck had been stolen out of state, and because my dad had gotten insurance for it, they were able to trace the truck back to us. They ended taking the truck from us after asking my father some questions (turns out the guy who sold us the truck was part a ring of people in Charlotte that stole trucks, cleaned them up using whatever methods they had, and then reselling them on marketplace). We then asked our insurance if they could help us out, but they washed their hands and said that "they don't cover stolen vehicles" (despite them approving a stolen truck for insurance, they should've run it through their system and noticed it was stolen, right?) Anyway, my dad has a friend in the police department, and he was able to file a police report and also get a lawyer, but they said the process would be slow and might take a while (the guy who sold the truck to my dad is also in custody now). The main issue is that the bank that we're with, Truist, is still trying to make us pay the loan for that truck, but why should we pay for a truck that we don't have anymore? We tried to show them the police report on the truck, but they told us that quote, "Yall should have known." They have also forcefully taken out around 1500 from my dad's account to pay for the loan despite him telling the bank that he didn't consent to them doing that, and because we haven't been paying the loan the bank has also destroyed my dad's credit score despite him being a perfect customer for the past 15+ years... Yeah, this whole thing just has me pissed tf off.
