I Need Input On What My Options Are
Location: Kentucky
My (18f) grandmother recently passed. She was my mother pretty much. She left the house to her four kids and myself. Because my father was experiencing mental instability I inherited 2/5 of the house. My dad damaged the house extensively after my nana passed and before receiving the help he needed. I now have limited guardianship and conservatorship over him. My aunt and one of my uncles is selling their portion of ownership for 36k each while the house is worth an estimated 180k (appraisal has not been done).
I’m faced with an ultimatum: either buy the house somehow (my dad wants the house), and take out a loan (i don’t currently have a job), and owe my other uncle money for his help to fix it up and sell it or- Me and my current boyfriend can put in a nice downpayment on a home with a few acres and build a place for my dad to live until the limited guardianship and conservatorship is complete.
I’m sure there are other options, I just need someone with a better understanding to help me figure this out
Either options will require a loan which could be possible with my bfs work history, the fact that we both have decent credit, and the fact that after the house is sold I’ll have enough money for a downpayment and bills. My dad will be able to build using some of his money (currently sitting in a separate savings account in my name).
Buying the house just sounds like I’ll owe a bunch of different sources money and I don’t know what to do. I hope this subreddit can give me some advice or ideas on how to move forward. Sorry I’m all over the place I can give more info if needed
