Internal Theft

Card image cap

I work as a cashier at a retail store location: in Las Vegas Nevada, I’ve worked there for nearly 3 years and never caused any problems up until 3 days ago, I get written up for double scanning as it’s messing with the sales and creating a loss (I’ve only scanned an item twice if they bring two of the same items and one of them doesn’t have the price on it) so I was very confused, they told me if an item doesn’t have a price on it to use the register option to add a sku with a price on it. It’s labeled in categories so if it’s clothing and if it’s a shirt it’ll show 9.99 or pants for like 16.99 and I can add it to the customers purchase if there’s no price on an item. A few days pass after that talk and I get called up to the office again, this time I have to talk to someone who wants to interview me, he told me there’s an investigation on me and said their system marked 2 incidents in one day where I scanned an item for 4.99 when the item usually goes for 9.99 or 19.99 and that it wasn’t even in the right category and that they think I’m causing internal theft, I was confused and told the guy that I don’t even remember doing that. They suspended me and the guy told me that they’ll give me an update soon and reach back out to me on if I come back to the store or not and I had to write a statement in which I said “I had this talk with someone about the sku system and I understand to use the right category going forward to avoid loss.” It’s been 2 days since and I’m honestly scared if I’ll get in more trouble, we don’t have items that costs a lot, it’s a discount store and they said there was like two incidents of me doing it wrong will I be in more trouble than a suspension?
