Is It Worth Suing My Roommate/her Friend For Stealing My Ps5?

Location: Champaign, Illinois.
They already caught the guy; he wasn't hard to find. They'll charge him with a federal crime, and I am pressing charges. But that doesn't give me my PS5 back.

Basically, my roommate begged me for days on end to set my PS5 up in the living room so she'd have something to play when she was bored. Eventually I caved and did so, and the next day it was taken. She invited someone over, and while she wasn't looking, he stole my stuff and left the premises. She called me while I was at work, asking me if I put it in my room. I blew up on her, asking her how she could let that happen. When I got home, we immediately went to the station and filed a police report. And they caught the guy the next day; it turns out he was already in for something else. He went on a bit of a crime spree, but he admitted to stealing my PS5 and selling it off to some rando for a couple hundred dollars. In cash. But my charge upgraded his misdemeanor to a felony. police were blunt, telling me most likely that I will not get my console back. Unless they sold it at a pawnshop or on eBay, I will not be getting it back.

I am thinking about suing, but I don't know if it will even be worth it. Sure, I can sue for the principle of the matter, but I am more pragmatic. Principle doesn't give me the funds to buy a new one, and if it is cheaper to just get a new PS5 used, then I might just go down that route. But I wanted to be sure before I make any decision.
