Is My Job Legally Allowed To Make Me Wait To Clock In?
This happens almost every day. My schedule is Monday-Friday 9-5. I arrive 5 minutes before my shift, and go to clock in at exactly 9. Every other day or sometimes every day I get there and I’m told to wait to clock in, that they aren’t busy enough. It’s starting to really irritate me. I don’t mind coming in later if that’s what they need but I live 35 minutes away and I can’t just drive back home and come back later. They don’t text or call me letting me know in advanced. They just tell me to show up and then this always happens. Sometimes I wait 20 minutes and other times I wait up to 55 minutes. They don’t let me clock in so I’m just waiting around in my car or in the back till they’re “ready for me”. Location: Florida
Edit: I’d also like to add the fact that I get sent home early often, I see other people get sent home early too. I’m rarely able to even get a full 9-5 day. Most of the time they send me home somewhere are 1-3 PM.
