Kicking Roommate Off Lease
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Throwaway account because of the situation
My partner, K, and I have been living with a good friend, A, for four years. There are a lot of details of personal grievances I have that I am happy to share if needed but I will stick with what I feel is relevant here.
As of today (March 22nd) they still have not paid me for rent for March. We have all signed the same lease, but I am the primary and the way our payments are set up I am the only person who can submit payments. K and A both send me their portion of rent and I pay for all three of us.
If that wasn't bad enough they have stolen from us. About $100 worth of weed from K, and what we had left of a mutual house fund. I don't know the exact number for what was left but probably 100-200 dollars. This was just cash in a jar that we all had access to for things we need around the house that we all used.
They have been staying out of the city with a man they met on tinder who has a DV w/ injury charge. They have now twice brought this man into our house without any sort of notice.
We have been taking care of their cat for the last two weeks while they have been at this man's house.
Our lease is up in May but we have already agreed to go month to month so we are here until at least June.
Where do we stand? Is it possible to get them kicked off the lease for theft? If so, do we have to file a police report to do so? They are breaking the lease in some ways but K and I are doing the same so I am anxious to go that route.
Happy to answer any and all questions, thank you for your help!
