Land Lord States Sent Letter Stating They Will Not Fix Washer And Dryer Despite Lease.
Location: West Virginia
I moved into my apartment in April of last year on a 1 year lease. The only section in the lease agreement that mentions appliances is as follows: The tenant agrees to use appliances in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and will assume cost of repair or replacement in the case of violation. They then sent a letter in the mail in December stating they will no longer be covering repairs of the washer and dryer but we are allowed to continue using the ones that are in our units. This wouldn't be a problem but it is now January almost exactly a month after i get the letter my washer breaks and they are stating they will not replace or repair it.
My questions is if that letter alone was enough for them to not repair my washer. I would figure the lease is binding until the 1 year is up then they can update it, but also the wording in the lease is vague enough since it doesn't mention which appliances are specifically included.
