Male Coworker Making 6$ More Than Me (f) For The Same Position With Way Less Experience (california)
I have worked at the same non profit for 1.5 years and make 20/hr. I came into my role with a relevant degree and 3 years of experience. Since starting I have taken on substantially more than what was outlined in my job description.
I have had consistently glowing performance reviews and I received a merit based bonus of 1k(lol) and was told last July during the fiscal year that the non profit wasn't doing raises due to financial issues across the board and that I just need to be patient.
In the meantime I took on more work more responsibility and took over for a manager in a different area while he was out on parental leave.
The non profit recently hired someone for what my role originally was they were intentionally looking for people with little to no experience and simply a good work ethic since they would primarily be doing restoration and weed removal.
They hired a guy and I have been tasked with training him since his boss is MIA 90% of the time because he is busy with his newborn.
Come to find out the guy I'm training is making 26 an hour. no experience, no knowledge of our local flora no nothing.
And I'm left like ... what the actual fuck?
I'm training someone for a job below me who is making 30% more than me?
Anyways I'm having a really hard time making sense of this. I have spoken to my boss and her boss and they both told me they know they are working on it.... ? But that it's held up in HR for some reason and it has been for weeks and months
I'm totally dumbfounded disrespected and devastated. Location: California
