Male Store Team Lead Took My Information & Contacted Me On Facebook, Need Advice.

Card image cap

Location: Dallas, TX

I went to a popular shoe store today, speciality running store (FF). I worked with a nice young lady the whole entire time. I never interacted with anyone else outside of saying hello when I walked in the store & have a nice day when I walked out.

When I walked in at the counter there was an employee behind the counter, I went straight to the young lady beyond the counter into the store.

When I decided on my shoes, she walked me to the counter. She asked me to verify my email for her, I did by spelling it out. I never once said my name in the store. Nor did I interact with anyone else. The guy who I now is the team lead was standing beside her at the other register. I paid for my shoes and left.

Not even 20 mins after, I opened Facebook and had a friend request. I didn’t recognize the person’s name but I did see that they worked at the store I just left at that location. It’s listed on their profile.

I messaged:

Me: Hi, do I know you

Him: Nah unfortunately not yet. You just came into (store name) & I was the guy behind the counter. I was gone speak and something to you then But I didn’t want my outfitters all in my business bc we on the clock & I’m a lead.

Him: You’re very beautiful so I wanted to reach out & let you know that. Plus possibly see bout converting (I’m assuming he meant conversing).

Me: Oh ok, thank you. Did you just look up me up by name? You sent that request quick, how you found me so fast, lol? (I only put lol so he didn’t realize why I was asking)

Him: lol yea I looked it up

I blocked him.

I am very pissed off. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me. And I am terrified. Especially since I cannot remember if they are the stores that keep address on file. I know my number and email are on file.

I need advice on how to move forward. Please help me understand if this goes against any data privacy laws or employee laws.
