Missing Steinway And Money
Update: checked Michigan missing money. I have quite a few! Thank you for reminding me about the site. Nothing from Steinway or for anything close to that amount though.
I bought a Steinway grand piano in 2018 and paid it in full. It was stored at the Steinway dealership in perpetuity. 2021 I realize my life has changed so I go in to ask about selling it. Store owner says no problem, they don’t move quickly though but he will work on it. Six months later he leaves me a vm: interested buyer for $21k. I call back and leave a vm: Perfect. He calls again- if it goes through I have to come in person and sign consignment papers. No problem.
He never calls.
Now it’s 2026. I found two potential buyers. Called Steinway and asked to come in and get some specific pictures. They agree and then morning of called to say it was sold in 2021 and they mailed me a check for 21k. I said I never received or cashed a check. I also signed no paperwork at any point. They said “well it shows we mailed it. Sorry.”
What do I do at this point for the quickest resolution to my 21k.
