My Boss Owes Me 5 Grand And Now I’m Reporting Him To The Department Of Labor.

I’ve recently gotten my first job around may. At first my boss seemed like a great guy, he’d pay me consistently, I wasn’t making much a week as a waiter but it was a lot for me at the time. Over time I see people come and go but don’t think much of it, the chef that’s been there for longest tells me how the boss has a long history of not paying people. Whether it’s employees or contractors, who ever you were he probably owes you money. It got to the point where random people would come in or call to ask if my boss was there. When I started u was only working 2 days, because I’m a college student and had all the free time in the world I told him I was available whenever. So I worked many hours up too 28-32 hours a week (I know that might seem like a lot but for me at the time it was especially as a firs job) because I was working more that means I would get paid more, so college came around and I needed to pay some parts of my tuition, i tell him a week in advance since he’s already late on my pay that I need it for college, he gives me excuses and empty promises whenever I try to ask him about my pay, he does this to everyone. Right before I needed to pay he paid me the weeks he owed me but it was right before I had to pay which stressed the hell out of me. He kept paying me later and later, by the beginning of August he was still paying me for the end of June, and through out August he only paid me for the first two weeks of July and that was only when I kept becoming more persistent about my pay. Now I decided I finally quit, the place I work at became extremely chaotic due to toxic co workers and the boss choosing not to buy supplies for the restaurant, and owing half of his staff atleast one or two weeks of pay. For me at this point he owes me 2 months of pay. Which is about 4,500. And today when I left I just texted him that I’m not coming back until I get paid everything I’m owed and if I don’t get everything by the end of the month im gonna report him to the department of labor.
