My Brother Has Homicidal Thoughts. What Do I Do?
My family seems to think he’s joking but I’ve never seen anyone joke in this way. He keeps saying that he’s calm on the outside but one day he will just snap and kill someone. My mom asks who he’d kill and he says “anyone”. He only talks like this when he’s drinking which I think is more concerning. He has three kids and he says that it’s “against his morals” to do anything to them but he would kill his ex gf or her new partner if she ever got one.
He’s also talked about how stabbing someone in the leg isn’t attempted murder and he wants to do that but “might get carried away”.
I know I should go to the police but I don’t know what they could do. I’m afraid that if the police showed up to his house, he’d end up hurting himself or the others in the house. I’m also afraid that he would go to a hospital and get released the next day and “snap” then. My family has been telling him he needs therapy for years now and he refuses. He hates medication and wouldn’t take that either so I feel like there’s not much the state could do to help him.
I’m at a loss. Any advice will help. TIA
