My Car Accident Claim Adjuster Has Lied About Attempting To Contact Me Or Start A Claim.

Location: California

Last week, my parked car was hit and totaled by a neighbor. I contacted my insurance to start a claim (I've never been in an accident before and don't know the regular procedure here, so would appreciate some grace if I use some terms incorrectly). I provided all relevant information and was told I would be contacted within 1 to 2 days. This happened last Wednesday (9/23). Two days would land on a Friday, so I did anticipate some potential delays through the weekend, fine.

I tried reaching out on Friday to follow up before the weekend, where someone from customer support was able to check the status of the Claim, which is where I discovered that my adjuster documented making attempts to contact me via phone and email, and also that they initiated a claim through the other parties insurance. I followed up to call them as well, but they did not answer.

On Monday, I called again, and they picked up and sounded irritated with me from the jump. I have worked in customer service, so I know what it's like to be on the other end of the phone when someone is upset, so now being on the other end, I am ALWAYS as polite as possible, regardless of the situation. Probably to my own detriment.

They were annoyed that I was calling, and informed me that my insurance does not cover damage to my vehicle (I know), so in their eyes this claim was basically closed. They had absolutely zero intent to contact me or the other party. They told ME to contact the other parties insurance and basically handle it on my own. My insurance is cheap, and I knew it did not cover damages, but my parked car was hit, so I don't understand why that is relevant at all, in my mind, everything should be coming out of the other parties Insurance, no?

I sat on hold with Geico for an hour yesterday to check on the status of the claim from their end. They informed me that there was no claim, that my adjuster did not contact them. The other party has not been contacted, nothing.

I'm broke. I don't have money for any of this, let alone to get a tow truck to move my car outside of the bounds of the fire hydrant that it was pushed into. I'm concerned it's gonna get towed, though I really thought this was going to be handled by now or that I would receive any kind of contact at all from someone. What are my options here? Is this just normal?
