My Medical School Won’t Disclose How/what The Passing Grade Was

Card image cap

My medical school is P/F and so far I haven’t passed my two units. If I fail any exam in the third unit then I have to remediate the entire first year. Getting a P(pass) for the unit means you must obtain SM (standards met) or SMR (standards met within requirements) in all 4 exams. If you don’t pass an exam you receive a SNM (standards not met) and the unit counts as In Progress until we can take a retake exam at the end of the year. This is all said in the handbook, which I understand. However, the school does not explain how they calculate the passing score. It’s not mentioned in the syllabus or handbook. All it says is that you have to P by getting all SM. They don’t even tell us what the average was for exams/quizzes and what a passing score is. I contacted and asked them to explain to me how they calculate the passing score, what the passing score was for the exams I got SNM (standards not met), and what my score was in comparison. Based off other repeating students, they do not provide this information. Furthermore, there are many repeat students in my class and are having to pay extra to repeat the year. It seems unfair to not know the exact grading system. It almost feels like the school is just using us for money (63k a year). I feel like it should be within my right to know what the passing score was for SM (standards met). Any legal advice? This is an accredited Med School in the US that is fairly new. Location:
