My Pants Got Caught On Someone's Car And Now They Said They're Gonna Take Me To Small Claims.

So I work at a restaurant where I have to take food out to cars. Today while I was working, somehow my pants got stuck on a cars bumper and pulled it out a bit. I apologized and tried to talk to them but they both just glared at me and ignored me. Then they came inside telling me that they're mad and that it's broken and they're gonna have to fix it. I apologized and said I didn't really know what to do about it, and they kept just repeating it. They said they were gonna call the cops and I said if that's a procedure, that's fine and that I didn't really know what to do. Eventually they went back to their car and like 15 minutes later came back inside and said they did research and it was gonna cost 250 dollars to fix and I had to give them cash or they were gonna call the cops. I said I didn't have 250 dollars cash on me. They said they didn't trust me to Venmo then the money and I personally didn't really trust their number (My coworkers also said it was pretty sketchy) they went back to their car and sat there for awhile. Then they called the cops and talked to them for a bit. The cop didn't talk to me at all. They come back inside and say that they're gonna take me to small claims court and need my name, number, and photo of my ID. I complied since they didn't seem like they'd leave without it.

I'm kinda just wondering what I should do? It was really an accident and I was just doing my job. My pants have never gotten stuck on a car before, and I don't really know how it even happened. I think it's a little ridiculous, and I don't personally trust the 250 estimate. What should I do? Should I be worried? Is it reasonable I think this is kinda excessive??? I'm just kinda nervous all my coworkers say they're being unreasonable and just trying to get money from me.
