My Sisters Friends Dad Died And She Has No Idea How To Move Forward
My sisters (F24) life long best friend A (F24) just lost her dad. She lost her mom as a kid and it was always just her and her dad. He took care of everything. I believe she received money from her mom after she passed and her dad told my mom she would be set for life. He left her everything, the house, all his money etc. The problem is he didn’t leave her instructions on how to access his accounts/money. She’s on the verge of losing the house, already lost house insurance, she couldn’t figure out how to access the accounts for heat and electric and she’s just really struggling. She’s never had a job and doesn’t have a license, her boyfriend is currently trying to take care of everything on his own and it’s not going well.
My question is how do we help her? How do we figure out if he left a will, or how to access the money he left her? How do we proceed? None of us know what to do or where to start. She is going to lose the house and already lost his car. She can’t afford a lawyer until she can access the money. They were always comfortable/well off so we believe her dad when he said she was set for life.
