Need Advise!!! Landlord Lied To Me

Card image cap

Location: Chicago IL So I recently signed a lease for a new apartment in Chicago. I viewed the place in the end June and signed shortly after. Before signing I was concerned about pests so I asked point blank verbally and over texts if they had any reports within the last twelve months and they said no both times. I signed and got the keys a month later three days before my lease officially began. The same day after receiving my keys I went to my new unit to inspect it for damages and I found a live baby German cockroach. I then inspected the building further only to find they have been dealing with a serious infestation. I found a plethora of dead roaches scattered throughout the building and I spoke to a few of the tenants who said this was an ongoing issue that they have been trying to treat. I immediately sent a notice to the landlord asking to be released fee free with a full refund for the move-in fee and first month’s rent since they obviously lied and knew which they denied ever saying. I also found overflowing garbages, cigarette butts, dirty walls and carpets throughout the building. They refuse to release me or refund my money. What can I do and do I have any grounds here? During the viewing everything seemed fairly clean so I was pretty shocked when I received my keys. I am thinking about getting legal help but I just want to know if I have any grounds here before I take this possibly long route. I also never moved anything in to the apartment and haven’t been back since I sent my notice. I have documented proof and photos/videos.
