Need An Affidavit Of Loss—except I’ve Been Title Jumped
LOCATION: WA state, US
Recently bought a beater so I can save some gas on my commute. The title wasn’t in the sellers name, he didn’t have it for super long because he wound up having a baby not long after buying it & it just didn’t fit his family. Super nice guy and has been really cooperative during this whole ordeal so I don’t really fault him, and I have no desire to go after him in any way, I just want the dang car. Everything should have been fine to put it in my name and get it on the up and up, except where the title’s been folded it tore. It’s the bottom third and it’s a clean tear. I have both pieces but the vehicle licensing office won’t accept it. Seller is reaching out to the guy who had it before him. I’m kind of at a loss on what to do if I can’t work it out. I think probably the seller got title jumped himself.
My current plan is to try a different licensing agency and see if they let me get away with getting the car transferred with the ripped title. If that doesn’t work I might attempt to reach out to the woman whose name is on the title now, but that might not yield anything. TIA
