Neighbor Recklessly Discharging Weapons- Problem: He's Local Chief Of Police

Card image cap

Location: Georgia

What it says on the tin.

My neighbor is the local chief of police even though we aren't in his jurisdiction (we live out in the county not in the town where he is Chief) and he gets drunk and fires automatic weapons on the weekends at night.

Tonight however it has reached a ridiculous level: I am hearing what sounds like thunder and I just realized it isn't freaking weather phenomenon, this man is firing a 50 cal. rifle a quarter mile from my house. I know my firearms safety and you CANNOT safely fire a 50 cal anywhere in my area. I have been to his house, he does not have the dug in hill range required to safely discharge that weapon with houses no further than a quarter mile in every direction.

Chances are he is legally allowed to own that gun, same as his fully automatic war film sounding evenings.

Is there any legal recourse I can take, whether reporting or sending some sort of letter or complaint, to stop this man from drunkenly ending up shooting my house or car or possibly me?

Thank you in advance!
