Niece Wants To Runaway To Our Place
Location: Canada (Ontario)
I won’t get into the dirty details but basically my 12 yr old niece (soon to be 13) isn’t in a good home situation. I’ve found notes she’s written talking about thoughts of running away or putting herself into foster care. She always says she wants to come live with me and her grandparents and we’d welcome her with open arms, we want to help her get out of that place. Her parents are split and they’re in the middle of a custody battle. She has no desire to live her mom and is currently living with her father but I honestly think it’s an emotionally and mentally abusive household- based on how she is acting and things I’m witnessing. But I don’t think it could be proven in any court stuff bc he’s doing the right steps, she’s in DBT therapy and they’ve had CAS workers come to the house but they really only go for the physical stuff which isn’t the issue.
So I guess my question is- how does someone “runaway”? How could we get her to live here without her father agreeing? Because he would never agree in a million years. I don’t even know where to start, let alone Google.
