Ny: Illegal Repo?
Location: NY. Hi everyone. I’m in my hometown this weekend visiting family, and was out to dinner when my car was repoed. I honestly thought my car was stolen, so I called 911, and that’s when dispatch told me.
We are in the middle of chapter 7 bankruptcy right now as well and when we started the process it put an automatic stay on my car.
The problem is, this place is known for being shady. I have epilepsy medicine, and my children’s car seat in the car as well as an iPad used as medical equipment (non verbal members of our family)
We are also now stranded in this town until we figure this out. Our lender is closed for the weekend despite online saying that they have phone lines open til 11, and the towing company close at 3pm M-F and is closed on weekends. We live 2 hours away.
I don’t want to hear the “well pay your bills” because there was a lot more that goes into this. I’m just frustrated and need the important stuff out of my car.
