Owner Entered Without Consent
My husband and I just moved. We had fully vacated our apartment a couple of days before the date of the lease ending. I had left a set of keys (we have 3) and 2 garage door openers. We came back on the day before our lease was over to do last looks, make sure everything was good before handing over the last keys.
When we entered we immediately noticed that all the blinds were open, the keys and garage openers were gone and later learned the water to the toilet was turned off.
We didn’t do any of this obviously.
We wanted to check the garage one last time and could not. We were so creeped out. All of my previous moves were done on the very last day of the lease. We could have been in there sleeping.
We saw the owner walking around when we pulled up but we don’t deal with her, she uses a management company.
I sent them an email immediately asking why they had entered without consent or notice. It’s been crickets from them. I did a little more research and found out they broke the law. I send another email informing them of this and asking for full deposit back plus 2 days prorated rent for the days they violated.
Crickets. Are they lawyering up? What can I do? They have violated our rights.
