Police Officer Wanted To Meet With Me, Then I Received Citation
today i was driving to work on a semi-busy neighborhood street and there was a car simply parked directly on the road right in the middle of the day at noon... no signal on, just sitting there as cars are driving by.
i was on my way to work, so i simply attempted to go around him, was gong maybe 30mph and right as i was parallel to him, he decides to turn and rammed right into me... my car went skidding across the road as he nailed the rear of my car.
turns out, he just got this vehicle yesterday, and he looks like he's about 17 years old or so... he apologized to me.
i was late for work, so i left after we exchanged information... 30 minutes later a police officer left me a voicemail asking me to call her back about the collision.
she said the other driver filed a police report and she wanted to give me the information for that, and what not.
i showed up at the station, and she was pretty nice, and she just asked me what happened with the collision, and i explained... and then she wrote me up for a citation because in my explanation, i told her that i attemped to drive around the vehicle... that street has a double yellow line, but she said the ticket could probably get waived in court (which isn't mandatory).
i was a little pissed... no officer observed the collision and now i felt stupid for even showing up.. i was trying to cooperate with the officer about this whole thing, didn't want them looking for me or anything.
was i stupid for even calling them back about this situation?
