Property Manager Isn’t Completing Repairs And I Need To Know How To Protect Myself As A Tenant
It’s almost been 3 months since I found and immediately reported soft spots on the linoleum around my bathtub and a soft spot on the wall by my bathtub. A maintenance tech came out and took pictures but I never heard anything. When he came back for a minor task, I was told to keep making maintenance requests. I did and never heard anything.
Recently, the property manager entered my apartment for an unexpected annual inspection and I brought it up to her. She said she would look into it.
This week a plumber called to set up an appointment for the leaking bathtub faucet I had reported but I’ve heard nothing about the floors.
It’s been suggested to me that they might be delaying things to try and push the blame onto me. I believe the damage occurred prior to me moving in and was from the poor caulking job they did around the tub. They didn’t seem to think it was from a leak.
What can I do at this point to protect myself? If they try to charge me for it, can I demand that they have a professional inspect the damage and give their assessment?
