Publicly Shamed And Accused Of A Horrible Crime I Did Not Commit Nor Was Ever Approached About Until Now

I was attending a show at a bar the other night. It was more aggressive, mosh pits and thrasher rock type. I was in the mosh all night and noticed a couple people targeting me. Elbows to the jaw, punches in the gut, all from the same people repeatedly. I wasn’t sure if it was just mosh pit activities or more, so I stepped out and started talking to homegirl about it. While we were chatting, one of the men who was targeting me approached and started saying I raped his friend. I was trying to diffuse and walk away, but was quickly surrounded by 4-5 men all saying the same thing. I tried making my way to the bar to close out and they pinned me against it and started throwing elbows into me. It didn’t take long for homegirl to notice and she pulled me out. When I got into a more open space, the girl who is accusing me of rape approached and started to yell at me claiming I raped her two years ago and she filed a police report that morning which was escalated to a supervisor before being closed. I kept trying to walk away but was grabbed by the wrist by one of the men and told I need to stay and admit what I did to her. This went on for 5 or 10 minutes before the bartender told me I had to leave. I asked homegirl to walk me out because I knew the men were going to follow me and felt like they might try something. Homegirl wanted to speak with the girl accusing me first so I grabbed another friend I noticed at the bar and asked him to walk with me. When we got outside, sure enough there were about 5 men following me. I chose to stay close to the entrance because I thought it was less likely I get jumped in front of a crowded bar vs the quiet streets on my way home. While waiting for homegirl outside, these men were yelling the same things, that I raped their friend and pulled every stranger aside as they walked by saying these horrible things to them. Eventually the cops showed up and started talking to the attacking party. While they were talking, the bar manager introduced himself and said I was not welcome back. A cop pulled me aside and got my statement of what happened in the bar. He asked if I wanted to press charges on the men attacking me but I declined because most of it was in a mosh pit. I had the officer walk me home.

My question more or less is what can I do to protect my reputation? Is this grounds for a restraining order on the parties involved? I have tried calling several firms and none of them will hear me out to give legal advice. I live in a very small town and am a regular at all of the 4 bars we have. A third of the regular nightlife witnessed all this so I’m worried about this rumor getting back to my employer and am looking over my shoulder anytime I step outside. I never heard from the police two years ago when she allegedly made the report. I remember the night in question very well, if details are needed on that night I can provide them, but I feel it’s irrelevant as I have never been officially accused.
