Question In Behalf Of Grandmother
Location: Arkansas. (Central AR) Long story, I'll do my best to shorten it. Few years ago my grandfather passed away and through details I'm not 100% on (due to being out of state long term for college) my grandmother was pressured out of the house/couldn't afford the home I grew up in. She moved towns and found a rental. She is elderly/sickly and has a gentle heart. The house itself is falling down around her head and feels like she has limited options. She asked the land lord (or whoever she pays rent to) about the floor and walls sinking/water heater leaking, rot, holes in the framing/ceiling, broken windows, etc. and in response, her rent was raised without addressing any issues.
I visited for the holidays as I live states away and I was made aware how the situation is. She says she doesn't know who actually owns the house, she sends a check to a company that does the rental agreement. Is there anything that can be done? Do I have any ability to do something? What even should I do?
