Questions About Eviction While Hospitalized (ca)

Card image cap

Location: CA

I am currently in the hospital undergoing PT to walk again. I have spent the last 8 months in the hospital, and am just now getting the help I need. My landlords have redone the floor in my apartment, and moved everything around. (I have photos.)

I am awaiting a call from the property manager, but I suspect since I mentioned court regarding any lost property gone missing during the reflooring, I will be told I'm being evicted. I know that CA laws require a 60 day notice of evacuation if you have lived in your place of residence for a year or more, but I need to know more.

1: What happens to my belongings if I can't get to them/have someone get them out? As mentioned, I am still in the hospital and will be for the foreseeable future. Is the company/property responsible for putting my belongings in storage, and them letting me take over payments?

2: Can I reasonably fight this? Is this legal to do? Would I have a basis for a lawsuit?

Please note that the apartment is subsidized by a third party company, which pays most of the rent.

3: If I am evicted, will this cause issues if I attempt to get on other programs that help pay rent (like Section 8, etc)?

Thank you.
