Rape Allegations

Hi y’all, hopefully someone can help me as I thought this drunken mistake was in the past but has sprung up again in a very public setting. This story starts after my sister’s wedding where I was very drunk but not to the point where I don’t remember details. I left my sister’s s wedding with two people. Let’s call them Jack and Jane. We go to a local bar after the wedding and we have a few more beers. After awhile me and Jane step outside to call our friend Tyler (also my best friend) from Jane’s phone to see where he is at so we can meet up and have drinks together. We get off the phone with him and I ask for Jane’s phone. Now this is where my drunken mistake happened. I had thought she was texting our friend Tyler and without even as much as looking up at the name I start sending very raunchy text, sexually raunchy but nothing that says I’m going to rape you. I hand Jane her phone back and that’s when she’s tells me what I had done. I apologized immediately because obviously it’s not as funny to send someone’s sister those text as it would be to my best friend jokingly. Me and Jane go our separate ways for the night as it’s now awkward between us and she was very mad at me. Understandable.

Flash forward to the next day. Her dad is now telling people in our close friend group that I tried to rape her daughter. He is known to overreact so after a quick apology and explanation of my side of the story I thought this would eventually be something we would all move on from. He never let it go, I stopped going around the family and cut contact.

All this happened 8-10 years ago. Now tonight at an event I wasn’t present for it he brought it up to said best friend again at the event. Best friend defended me and that upset the dad. He starts yelling to the entire public space that “ *insert my name* tried to rape both of my daughters”.

My legal questions are: Could the text I sent be seen as rape in any such way/shape/form? If not, can I take legal action so that he can’t yell this in public anymore?
