School Threatening Placing My Class On Loa Because Too Many People Are Dropping/failing Out

Location: Anchorage, AK

I attend a night class at a post-secondary vocational school. My cohort started classes in September, 2025 and supposedly will graduate in October, 2026. This class consisted of 6 students initially and has since dwindled down to 4. We have been informed that if one more person drops or fails the program, our cohort will be placed on an involuntary Leave of Absence until approximately a year later when the next cohort reaches the point where our class was placed on LoA (a little confusing, I can clarify if that doesn’t make sense.)

I have combed the school’s policy book and information I received before enrolling and this possibility is stated nowhere— if I had known about this, I actually would not have enrolled in this school because my spouse is in the military and we will be PCSing in early summer of 2027.

If this does happen, I would not be able to complete the program, and would have to repay my student loans and potentially the scholarships I received— without the certification I was expecting to receive. I tried to Google this scenario, but I haven’t seen anything online. I was just curious if it’s worth considering legal action if this actually does happen (which seems like it may because of one of my classmates health conditions.)
