Secretly Recorded Threatening Phone Call In California

A couple of months ago I got a no caller ID voicemail of a corny TikTok audio. Within the first 10 seconds of the voicemail I could hear faint laughing in the background, and I had an idea of the people behind it. I just let it slide, but then about a month later I received a no caller ID phone call. I put my phone down and recorded the call with my iPad. Here’s how it went:

"Unknown: Hello.

Renny: Hello.

Unknown: Is this Renny?

Renny: Hi. Speaking.

Unknown: Hi, bitch We fucking got you, bitch. Fucking bitch. That's why you like to watch feet, you nasty ass bitch. And you go right on your TikTok and write about how you want to [off yourself]. Nasty ass bitch. Maybe you should do us all a favor and do it, bitch. Before I call UCLA or whatever fucking school you go to, bitch. Look outside your window. You see that car, bitch. You better duck, bitch.

I'm coming up to your fucking house for the fade, little [n word]. I'm going to beat your ass. You're gonna wish you never walked you fucking bitch, fuck you [c slur], fuck you [c slur], fuck you [c slur] ass bitch. You want to touch my people, bitch I'll get my [n word] to beat your ass, bitch.

Renny: So, um, I just want to give y'all a little tip.

Unknown: Come outside, come outside. Come the fuck outside bitch. I'm outside your apartment bitch.

Renny: When you leave no caller ID voicemails, make sure you stay quiet for the first 10 seconds of the voice

Unknown: [n word] JUST SHUP UP BEFORE I BEAT YOUR FUCKING ASS right now you little bitch. Fuck you up so bad there's going to be fire up your asshole. That shit's going to come out your mouth, bitch.

Renny: The fact that you guys are still using no caller ID to send me voicemail just shows how obsessed you guys are. Thank you.

Unknown: Eh eh eh fuck you bitch

Renny: Oh my god, bro..."

I only found out later that California is a 2-party consent state, so under penal code 632 there may be liability of me having that recording as I secretly recorded it. However, I also noticed penal code 633.5, which provides an exception to this rule, and that if the call is evidence of “violence against another person,” it would be admissable.

While I have no idea who specifically this caller is, I am very confident in who they are associated with. These people, while they to my knowledge never reported me to the police, accused me of very serious things back in 2024 that were false or extremely exaggerated. I won’t get into what those accusations were here, but it definitely made me worried about reporting THIS to the police.

So I’d like to ask, would you think this call falls under 633.5? If I bring this recording to the police can I be liable? Is it okay to report this to the police without direct evidence?
