Should I Pursue Further Action?
Location: Arizona
Went to a fairly known tire discount shop for a set of new tires. Purchased new tires and received an alignment. The reps doing the alignment accidentally reset my calibration codes and learning modules on my 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid.
Dealer is now quoting ~6k in repairs to fix everything. Master cylinder, brake boost, actuator. Claims department with tire discount said that they aren't responsible since the parts are going bad.
Thing is, the car was in working condition/drivable upon being serviced by tire discount. I spent around 3.5 hours at the shop on 10/2, they did 4 alignment resets in that time.
Just got a call today that claims will only pay 900$ for the calibration and not for the parts/labor of everything else. The thing is also, my car is now not in working condition and should have not been reset by the tire discount.
If you were in my shoes, would you pursue further action? I am speaking with claims supervisor on Monday to dispute. I have notes/invoices from the dealer stating had they not done the reset, my car would still be in working condition. But now the dealer cannot do the calibrations without new parts.
Is this on me or on tire discount? Just wanted to get more thoughts. Thank you
