Struggling With Divorce And Controlling Ex
Hi! My current divorce situation has gotten out of control and I don’t know what to do. He filed for divorce in January, he won’t agree to any mediation and is forcing us to go to trial. Currently we have no trial date set.
We have had 4 or 5 family court dates all of which consisted primarily of him rambling about every issue he’s had with me over our relationship. He talks at length about all this hidden money (??) I am hiding, while I am literally struggling to keep the power on at our house.
He tries to dictate my schedule even though we live in separate homes. If I say no - he goes berserk. I would block him, but we have two young children together. When they are with him I worry what his stress level is doing to their minds. He just started a new job and cannot handle parenting and working.
I am too poor to afford a lawyer and I’m at a loss as to what my next steps should be. We don’t have a custody order in place - just a temporary arrangement that we agreed to in mediation. Should I go to the court and request full custody of the kids? Or should I just acquiesce to his demands and document until the trial when custody will be decided?
I hope this post made sense, any advice would be appreciated.
