Terminated From Doctor With No Justification, Doesn't Feel Legal (wi)
Location: Wisconsin
Basic issue: I was terminated from my provider after raising an insurance-based discrimination complaint, the letter I was sent just said "we can't maintain a therapeutic patient-physician relationship," and I got my records and nothing indicates why I'm being terminated.
Longer story: After 33 years of complex medical issues and being misdiagnosed, I found a primary care doctor that listened to me and got me stable for the first time in my life. It was such good care that my partner went to see her too.
We both have ADHD and are prescribed Adderall. I get 10 MG more than him, but otherwise it is the same. He has Medicaid and I have private insurance through ny employer. I never have issues with refills, he has had problems since January. His scripts had strict refill timeframes that only allowed him to fill his meds on the day he was physically out. We have one car and I travel for work, so this led to missed doses.
No nurse or clinic staff, to date, have explained why he has these specifications on his meds. (We do the drug tests with no issues, are not late on payments, and have never been abusive towards staff).
After months of back and forth with nurses, a manager told him if he didnt like his care, he could leave. I sent a message and finally asked if the different treatment is due to his insurance. On a Friday, the site manager acknowledged my insurance-based complaint, Monday, they terminated my care because our "therapeutic relationship" cant continue.
I got my medical records and nothing in there indicates why I was termed, my letter isn't in there. I asked the org for any documentation they can provide about my termination and they refused.
That was the only clinic in town they banned me from, and now a stable patient has to travel three hours round-trip to see someone new. I can't afford the time off and gas to get all those establishing appointments in.
Can you really be terminated for no reason in Wisconsin? This feels like retaliatory decision making, but idk. I've missed work, my trauma symptoms are retriggering, and I'm struggling really bad. They wouldn't let me see my doctor during any of this or speak to her, and she didnt sign my letter, so I dont know if she's even aware.
I'm so confused.
