This Is A Long Sketchy One…

Location: Northern California

My boyfriend is a delivery driver for a medical cannabis lab, and brings the products to various dispensaries around all of California.

This morning he commented that he wasn’t thrilled about one delivery. The dispensary doesn’t have a secured area for delivery drivers to park, you have to park on the street and it’s not in a great area of Oakland. Two delivery drivers in the past have been robbed doing deliveries there, one on the way back to the vehicle, the other they smashed the windows of the vehicle.

When he got there he decided to grab his bag and put it in a tote that the company uses for deliveries, worried that it might get stolen.

In the bag, which is designed for CCW he had a pistol. The gun was not loaded and the magazines were in a secured separate compartment.

This being said, it is 100% not legal to bring a firearm into a dispensary under any circumstance, he is fully owning this. It’s a hefty fine and he could lose his job.

Well, dumbass incredibly actually FORGOT the tote at the dispensary.

Once he realized, he called the dispensary in a panic and spoke to the owner.

The owner asked my BF what the “contents of the bag were”. Right then he knew it wasn’t going to go well.

The owner told him that he would call him in an hour and let him know how he was going to handle the situation. 3 hours go by and my BF goes back to the dispensary, owner went home with the bag, mind you, this bag ALSO has his wallet, cash, drivers license etc.

BF calls the owner, the owner tells my BF that he can come to his house tomorrow to get the bag, but that he’ll be keeping the gun and they’ll be “square”.

Okay, so you have my boyfriend who royally screwed up and could face serious consequences (side note, he has already told his supervisor about bringing the firearm into the dispensary) a hefty fine $20k+ and possibly losing his job.

But then you’ve got the owner who is basically holding his belongings hostage, and is blackmailing him.

We can’t figure out what to do, but he is ready to throw himself under the bus.
