Trying To Get Off Mortgage Loan Co-signed With Ex

Okay so about a year ago, even a bit longer than that I had bought a house with my ex girlfriend who I was fine with at the time. This house is in location: Nebraska. Come to turn out the relationship wasn’t working so I decided to part ways. We agreed that we could live in that said house and respect boundaries until the house is sold so we could officially part ways. You could only imagine how that turned out. I was basically forced out of that house and said fuck it and the mental abuse caused by her and her family and decided to move back to my home state Ohio. Before I left tho we came to terms that if I left I had to sign away the deed but she would still make the loan payments. Everything was fine with that deal that we made up until now recently she’s been late on payments and it’s affecting my credit. I try to contact her and her family about the house to see how we could resolve this issue so I don’t get the shit end of the stick but they will NOT cooperate at all. I’m in desperate need of legal advice I want my name off this loan. I now have started a new life and I just can’t bare this shit when I have a baby on the way and other bills and so on so forth. I called an attorney he basically told me there’s nothing I could do but I mean cmon there’s gotta be something. I already know this is the stupidest decision ever but yeah now I’m just looking for advice or help anyone please
