Unauthorized Tree Trimming By Hoa
I live in an subdivision in NC. Our HOA hired a tree cutting service to trim branches on trees in between sidewalks and roads. Yesterday, we found they entered our yard and cut 11 branches from a Maple tree, ranging from 1-2" to 6" diameter. The largest probably extended 15 feet or so. This tree sits about 20 ft. from the sidewalk and most of the branches faced away from the street and sidewalk.
They didn't communicate with us before or after, and we don't know why they did this. I spoke with the cutter in the neighborhood the next day, and he indicated they were not sure if other than street trees should have been cut, or why our particular tree was trimmed. I don't think any branches needed trimming, as I did this in the Spring.
We wrote the HOA and they apologized and said they should not have done that. That's fine, but, I'm angry they did this without my permission, and that they were so aggressive in cutting. What recourse do I have and how should I handle it?
