Vehicle Warranty

Card image cap

Hi, bought a car in February. Took a 3 year extended warranty for an extra £1k. Had 6 months with the dealer so the extended warranty did not kick in until 12th August. I've covered 2000 miles in the car and 600 since 12th August. On 28th September I took it to the garage with a scraping noise. Diagnosed as clutch release bearing/slave cylinder. Also master cylinder leaking.

After 4 weeks and many emails asking for something, then a 4 day wait and ask for something else. (Why not just ask for everything in one go) the warranty company rejected the claim saying a clutch is expected to last 70-100k miles and mine is on 72k. Its wear and tear. I responded saying its not the clutch, its the master and slave cylinders that are away. The response was slave lasts 50k-80k and master lasts 60k-90k. Neither are covered. Wear and Tear.

My question is, can I challenge this? What route should I go down? Clearly the policy itself was not fit for purpose. The dealer persuaded me to buy it but the car was on 70k and literally everything on the massive list of covered components has an expected life under 70k. Effectively using the warranty company's reasoning of expected natural lifespan nothing was covered even at the point of the policy starting.
