Wage Reductions Made Without Notice
Location: Pennsylvania
Yesterday 1/16/26 I got my pay stubs for the last two pay periods and while just reading through them noticed my pay was reduced by $1.50. After contacting my general manager I was told that it was intentional. I asked why I hadn't been given reasonable notice and was not given an answer and instead they explained it was because my performance was unsatisfactory. I asked again why I wasn't given notice and was told that the supervisor said they aren't dealing with it anymore (?) and told me to contact the supervisor instead. So I've sent a text and email asking to verify that the wage reduction was intentional and that I was not given proper notice. They have yet to respond which I know it's the weekend and I will likely see a response by Monday.
My question is in the state of Pennsylvania is it legal to reduce someone's hourly wage without telling them?
Had I known a month ago when it went into effect, I would have found another job and it just seems unfair that I've wasted a good portion of my time unknowingly working for less than I originally agreed to.
