Want My Ex To Move Out

I've heard of some weird residency laws here but I dont know if there are others I'm not aware of or if any could apply to me.
I bought my first house about two years ago and my ex has lived with me the whole time. All the paperwork is in my name and they were not apart of the purchase, but I didnt think to make any legal documentation defining their residence at the time. They do get mail here and have my address on their license. They helped me move in but otherwise have not made any significant repairs or improvements. They weren't paying any bills for the first year and although now they do help out, its still less than half of the bills required and I have to constantly remind them to get the money. They dont clean or do anything that offsets the responsibility of bills. Their presence, behavior, and general mess they create is more and more of a headache and frequently causes me strife.
I've asked them about moving out before and they always say they just need to pay off some things before they can start looking. I do understand that with how expensive everything is right now and I'm certainly not looking to make them homeless or anything. I was thinking of giving them a deadline and wanted to come here and ask if theres anything I should prepare for or be aware of. Not sure if theres anything else I should add.
