What Would Happen If I Reported Someone For Choking Me?

Location: Wisconsin.
My (now recently ex) bf choked me during sex. He kept squeezing harder and harder until i couldn't breathe or move. He looked so angry and i don't know why because I was doing everything he wanted. He then sexually assaulted me later on. I went to the walk in for my neck, everything was okay internally via x-ray and no bruising. I did have a lot of pain, couldn't swallow at first then swallowing was hard, i can't recall what else it caused at the moment. I wouldn't report the sexual assault, there's no proof it happened and he did it other times too. My question is what would happen if I reported him for choking me? Is it even worth it? I want to but I feel like it's only going to hurt me. Asking why i didn't report immediately, why I stayed with him, etc. Would it go to court or just get dismissed?

Update: I did make a report at the police station. We’ll see how it goes from here. Thank you everyone for your help and encouragement! I went by myself because the DVC here sucks ass. I know from experience. Sounds like my abuser is getting his way, they’re believing him over me already. They called him instead of going there and they promised me an investigation. Looks like that’s not happening. They’re also saying since sex was consensual in the beginning, it was consensual the whole time, including almost being choked to death.
