Who Do I Contact About Assault

At the beginning of the yr I bought myself a brand new Camaro. A couple months ago I was at a public place and got blocked by 2 SUV’s. One of the drivers got out and went towards my car and I said what do you think you’re doing? They opened my car door and went to get in my car and I thought oh hell no you’re not stealing my car. So I grabbed the persons arm and pulled them out of my car and they punched me in the face. After the initial shock of being hit I fought back with everything I had in me. Well I was getting the best of the person who attacked me and their friends got out to help that person out. That’s where they got the best of me and also damaged my car. Estimated damages around $20,000. I was kicked in the back and hit the ground and while down someone else pulled up and said Hey WTF is going on? Two attackers jumped in the SUV in front of me and got the hell out of there. One woman helped me up, and all I could think was too get the hell out of where they had blocked me in at. I said I was fine, thanked them, and got out of there. The SUV that was behind me that was driven by the first attacker was still there when I got to the other side of where I was blocked in at. So I snapped a photo of their license plate. Went home and it hit me I could have died and it’s just a car. I called the police and they came and said I had to go to the hospital, that’s how messed up I was. So I went, got checked out, was released the next morning, and I went home. It took the police about 3 weeks to arrest them gather witnesses account and view the security video footage. So I was contacted by the DA’s office and asked to come in. So I arranged time off of work and went in. Come to find out not their first time doing this. The first one who tried to get in my car and attacked me this is their 3rd time being arrested for similar assaults. So they were still in jail. They lawyered up and tried to offer 20 k for medical and fix my car. And they would be released from jail after serving 30 days. They were also fined 10k each from the DA’s office. Here’s the thing, I’m a one eyed person, and I had a lens transplant a few yrs ago and it was expensive. When I got hit a ring hit my eye and shattered my lens so it once again has to be replaced. Plus I’ve had chiropractor visits weekly since this happened because I actually got hurt. My problem is I’ve put all the doctors visits on my insurance and I don’t have any idea how long this is going to go on. So I refused their offer and said messed up my life. I can’t sleep in the dark, I’ve been late to work almost daily due to my lack of sleep due to no sleep cuz of reliving it all over again and again. I’m afraid of people now, and I’m getting testy with people at work. I’m not involved with activities that have been part of my life since I was old enough to drive. I can’t even get myself to stop at the store to buy groceries. I can’t handle people being within 10’ of me. The chiropractor says I need a PI lawyer but I’ve been told a Criminal lawyer but I don’t know which and we go to trial next month so I need to hire an attorney. I just know which kind I need. Any advice? Thank you
