BAYDOG was up 80%, selling 45 units, primarily life vests. We sold 26 life vests (Monterey number one and the Offshore number two) in July. The new BAYCAT harness, we sold seven in the first couple of weeks on the floor. — Jennifer Larsen, Firehouse Pet Shop, Wenatchee, WA

Our top-selling item by quantity was individual rolls of poop bags! It’s tourist season in our town, and a lot of people bring their dogs, walk them around our village and shop with them in our store. We have a bucket of poop bag rolls on our counter that we sell as individual rolls. We only sell GREENLINE poop bags, which are landfill biodegradable. $1.50 per roll, and we sold 57 rolls. — Amy and Pat Schiek, Lucky Dogs,
Skaneateles, NY

  • FLUFF & TUFF never disappoints. We had $4,500 total net sales in F&T plush toys. Peanut the Chipmunk has been a leader in our region for 11 years. — Robert L. Critselous, Drooly’s Dog Bakery, Bentonville, AR
  • Summer means storms! We brought in ALZOO calming products and sold four packages of laundry detergent strips, five boxes of calming wipes and three calming diffusers. This brand is all natural and pheromone based. The natural alternative for calming pets is the draw and selling point. — Roxane Cann, The Dapper Hound, Mount Airy, NC
  • A new bestseller is FORZA10 Renal Support Lamb. The cat version sold better than any other can. Customers love the packaging. It does not hurt that it’s our only can that specifies ‘renal’ on the label. — Jennifer Flanagan, Pacific NW Pets, Sherwood, OR
  • VEE ENTERPRISES Leather Bouncer cat wands. They sell out faster, at $9.99 than any other wand we carry, likely because they include both something ‘furry’ (looks like a fake rabbit’s foot) and have leather strings to chase, and the price point is good. They’re also not a toy folks see everywhere. — Adina Silberstein, Queenie’s Pets, Philadelphia, PA
  • ZENTA PETS Tendon Sticks were my highest quantity sold (220). Zenta Sausages in chicken, beef, venison, and hare were my second highest quantity sold for July (125 units). Customers love Zenta because they are a natural and inexpensive treat for their dogs. — Tiffany Brown, Becker Pet & Garden, Detroit Lakes, MN
  • GREEN JUJU Soil. We kept selling out! Part social media attention for studies on it, part sales, part staff getting excited about new probiotics. — Kathleen Vandermoss, All Natural Pet Supply, Vancouver, WA
  • GUNNI’S Cod Skin Twists! We sold 30 at $2.99 each. Our staff recommends them for little puppies and small dogs. — Katherine Ostiguy, Crossbones, Providence, RI
  • WERUVA Cat BFF OMG Rainbow Road Variety 2.8-oz. can in a 12 pack. $20.29, and we sold 10 units. Kitties love the gravies, plus the BFF line is a great balance between quality and affordability! — Corey Heenan, Boutique and Pet Spa, Altamont, NY
  • Our PREPPY PUPPY bakery cookies did quite well in July. We do ocean-themed cookies in the summer: lobsters, jellyfish, etc. $2.95 each. — Shelly Nicastro, Essex Bird & Pet Supply, Essex, MA
  • SAVAGE CAT Rabbit Ears, a new product on our bulk body parts table, pairs nicely with Savage Cat Rabbit Fur Strips. We’ve been talking about the importance of fur and feathers as a species-appropriate fiber source for dogs and cats, and customers are really listening! Ears are $3.50, strips are $2.50, or a full container of strips for $28. — Molly Lewis, Dog River Pet Supplies, Hood River, OR
  • SUSIE’S CBD, largely due to fireworks and travel, but the brand has increased in popularity at our store. Astro Loyalty and Susie’s had a dollars-off promotion. Just their CBD drops, we sold 23. — Shari Wilkins, Lake Dog and Their People, Eufaula, OK
  • HOME RANGE Furs-Bee Bladder Discs. We sold 150 at $8 each. Super funky shape, a huge hit with dogs, and all sizes can enjoy! — Lori Colburn, Nature’s Pet Market Orenco, Hillsboro, OR
